By ordering an Ultimate DNA Test or Ultimate Genome Sequencing service (the "DNA test"), you're about to embark on an amazing journey of self-discovery.

  • Sequencing.com's Ultimate DNA Test will provide data on approximately 29 million positions throughout your genome.
    • You will receive your raw DNA data as a VCF file stored in your Sequencing.com account.
    • Once your Ultimate DNA Test has been completed, you can access, download and share your raw DNA data. There is no fee for accessing, downloading or sharing your raw DNA data.
  • Sequencing.com's Ultimate Genome Sequencing service will provide data on approximately 3 billion positions throughout your genome.
    • You will receive your raw DNA data in several different file formats including paired FASTQ, BAM, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) VCF, insertions and deletions (INDEL) VCF,  structural variations (SV) VCF, copy number variations (CNV) VCF, and mitochondrial heteroplasmy (MITO) VCF. The BAM and VCFs will be aligned to reference genome GRCh38.p13.
    • Once your Ultimate Genome Sequencing service has been completed, you can access, download and share your raw DNA data files. There is no fee for accessing, downloading or sharing your raw DNA data.

When you purchase the Ultimate DNA Test or Ultimate Genome Sequencing test, your test will be processed by our Laboratory Partners.  We will provide our Laboratory Partner with only your basic contact information so that it can send you a DNA collection kit; we will not share your billing information with our Laboratory Partner but will pass on your payments to them.

As part of your DNA test, your DNA data will be stored in your Sequencing.com account. You own your raw DNA data and can access your data at any time.

  • For Ultimate Genome Sequencing, your data will be stored and available only in your Sequencing.com account.
  • For the Ultimate DNA Test, your data will be stored and available in your Sequencing.com account and you will also receive a separate account to access the Laboratory Partner's site that may include some features and functionality provided by that Laboratory Partner. These may include additional ways to analyze your DNA data. The Privacy Policies and Terms of Use of Living DNA, the Laboratory Partner for the Ultimate DNA Test, will apply to your DNA data stored with the Laboratory Partner.

The Ultimate DNA Test and Ultimate Genome Sequencing are unique to Sequencing.com and are only available for purchase at Sequencing.com.  The Ultimate DNA Test and Ultimate Genome Sequencing cannot be purchased through any other site and cannot be purchased through our Laboratory Partners. The raw DNA data results generated by the Ultimate DNA Test and Ultimate Genome Sequencing are distinct from all other tests including DNA test kits and genome sequencing kits that can be ordered from any other site or laboratory.

Starting from when the laboratory receives your returned DNA collection kit, the estimated turnaround time for the Ultimate DNA Test is around 3-4 weeks and the estimated turnaround time for Ultimate Genome Sequencing is around 10-12 weeks. When the laboratory is very busy, turnaround times may be extended by up to 4 additional weeks. If there is an issue with your DNA collection kit, we'll send you a new DNA collection kit free of charge (learn more about how we handle kit-related issues). Turnaround times are estimates and are not guaranteed. Refunds will not be issued due to turnaround times beyond the estimates.

Once your Ultimate DNA Test or Ultimate Genome Sequencing has been completed, your raw DNA data will pass through Sequencing.com's proprietary bioinformatics data processing pipeline. Your raw DNA data will then be stored and accessible to you at Sequencing.com. A smaller subset of your DNA data may also be stored and accessible to you at the Laboratory Partner's site. The raw DNA data stored and accessible to you at the Laboratory Partner's site is not the entire DNA data from the Ultimate DNA Test or Ultimate Genome Sequencing. Your entire DNA dataset from the Ultimate DNA Test and Ultimate Genome Sequencing will only be accessible to you in your Sequencing.com account.

Your DNA collection kit for Sequencing.com's Ultimate DNA Test and Sequencing.com's Ultimate Genome Sequencing will be shipped from our Laboratory Partner. Use the DNA collection kit you receive to collect and send back your DNA sample. Once your DNA collection kit is received by the laboratory, the test performed upon the sample in that kit will be the test you ordered through Sequencing.com (either the Ultimate DNA Test or Ultimate Genome Sequencing). After receiving the DNA collection kit, the kit must be activated by the person (or the person's representative or guardian) using the kit.  To activate your DNA collection kit for the Ultimate DNA Test or Ultimate Genome Sequencing, follow the instructions included with the DNA collection kit. Upon activating the kit, the activation information will be automatically sent to Sequencing.com.

When activating the DNA collection kit, a free account will be opened with the Laboratory Partner that will be registered to the email address of the person (or the person's representative or guardian) that is activating the kit.  The Laboratory Partner will send the activation information and DNA data for each activated kit to Sequencing.com.  If you do not wish to have an account with Sequencing.com and our Laboratory Partner, and for your DNA data to be held on both sites, you should not order Sequencing.com's Ultimate DNA Test or Sequencing.com's Ultimate Genome Sequencing.  Once the kit has completed and the raw DNA data is available at Sequencing.com, you may delete your raw DNA data stored at the Laboratory Partner and/or at Sequencing.com at any time.

Once you place your order for either an Ultimate DNA Test or the Ultimate Genome Sequencing service, all sales are final and non-refundable. After placing your order, your order details will be transmitted to the Laboratory Partner. The Laboratory Partner will fulfill your order with the initial step of shipping you a DNA collection kit. After using the DNA collection kit, the kit will be returned to the Laboratory Partner using the shipping materials included with the kit. The Laboratory Partner will extract your DNA and perform the required testing. Once the test is complete, the Laboratory Partner will transmit your raw DNA data into your Sequencing.com account. You'll receive an email notification when your results have been completed and your raw DNA data is available in your account.

The DNA collection kits for Sequencing.com's Ultimate DNA Test include prepaid return shipping for all kits. The kits for Sequencing.com's Ultimate Genome Sequencing include prepaid return shipping only for kits shipped to the United States. If you order an Ultimate Genome Sequencing kit and do not live in the United States, you will have to pay for return shipping of the kit back to the laboratory as well as any customs fees. Instructions for returning the kit back to the laboratory will be provided with your DNA collection kit.

A state-of-the-art DNA collection kit will be mailed to you at your shipping address provided at the time you place your order.  Depending on your location, you will likely receive your DNA collection kit within 1-2 weeks. This DNA collection kit is easy to use and requires only gently rubbing swabs on the inside of the mouth. Simply use the swabs included within the collection tube and return the swabs using the return shipping materials. You must complete and return your DNA collection kit within 180 days of when you place your order or at least 90 days before the expiration date on the DNA collection kit, whichever is sooner.

Your purchase of a DNA test may include a number of free months of Membership to Sequencing.com. This Membership enables your DNA data to be transformed into clear solutions for health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, genealogy, and more. Your Membership will begin after your DNA test is completed and your DNA data is available in your Sequencing.com account. With the amazing DNA-personalized insights you'll be receiving on an ongoing basis, we're confident you'll find your Membership an excellent value.

You may cancel Membership at any time and for any reason. There is no commitment with your Membership (no minimum that is required) and there is also no cancellation fee.

If you do not want to continue with your Membership, cancel your Membership before the renewal date by signing into your account and going to Setting and then Membership. If you do not cancel your Membership, your Membership will automatically renew after the completion of the monthly or annual membership at the then-current rate. You may change or cancel your Membership at any time, but all Membership Fees paid are non-refundable.

If we are unable to process a DNA test payment or Membership payment, such as if your payment method is declined or there's a chargeback (also referred to as a 'dispute' or a 'disputed charge'), we reserve the right to pursue any remedy that is available to us, including, but not limited to, the right to suspend your account, as well as pursue collection of the balance owed. The balance owed may include additional fees incurred as a result of the chargeback. Suspended accounts cannot be canceled. If your account is suspended due to non-payment, your account suspension will be lifted and your account will become accessible once full payment of the balance owed is received. If a chargeback on a DNA test payment is initiated, in addition to account suspension, your DNA test may be immediately canceled. If the chargeback is initiated after the DNA test is already in progress or completed, access to the raw DNA data from that DNA test will be revoked and the raw DNA data may be either deleted or used for research purposes. If a chargeback on a Membership payment is initiated, in addition to account suspension, your Membership may be automatically canceled and all apps and reports used during that Membership may be permanently deleted. Please note that any data in suspended accounts, including DNA data, may be accessed and used for research purposes unless you later decline to allow your DNA data to be used for that purpose.

As part of Membership, the Silver, Gold, and Platinum Membership Plans include the ability to select and use a specified number of DNA analysis apps every 30 days. As a Member, you may select from any of the DNA analysis apps that are currently participating in the Membership Program. The DNA analysis apps that a Member can use may change at any time. This includes new DNA analysis apps being added to the Membership Program as well as DNA analysis apps being removed. To view the currently available DNA analysis apps, Members may visit their My Apps page.

Altruism Rewards is included with your Membership. As part of Altruism Rewards, DNA data stored in Membership accounts becomes Altruist Data as part of Sequencing.com's Terms of Use. No personally identifiable information will be shared with a researcher unless you specifically agree in writing for such information to be shared. This feature enables you to obtain rewards if your anonymous DNA data may be helpful for researchers.

Your Membership may consist of one or more members. Each member is one person, defined as one genome. You can add additional people to your account simply by storing another person's DNA data in your account. Each person's DNA data that is stored in your account will be automatically identified as an additional genome. The total amount of your Membership is determined by how many genomes you have stored in your account.

For example, if you have DNA data in your account for yourself, your spouse, and your child then you’ll have three genomes in your account and your Membership will be billed for three members. If your membership plan is $19.99 per month and you have three genomes in your account, then you’ll be billed $59.97 each month ($19.99 x 3).

Using advanced One Genome technology, Sequencing.com will automatically detect how many genomes are stored in your Sequencing.com account. If you add DNA data to your account and the data is for a new genome (you don’t already have DNA data stored in your account for that individual), a new genome will automatically be generated using the DNA data. The number of members under your Membership will also automatically increase by one and your credit card will be charged for this additional member. The charge will occur within 24 hours of when a new genome is added to your Sequencing.com account.

You may remove a member from your account by deleting the genome for that person. A genome can be deleted by signing into your account and going to your My Genomes page. Each genome that is deleted will reduce the number of members in your account by one. If a genome is deleted, the files for that genome will be stored in your 'Unassigned Files' folder and will not be able to be used with your Membership.

If you have DNA data from another genetic test, such as from AncestryDNA or 23andMe, you can, at any time, add the data into your Sequencing.com account. You can upload an unlimited number of DNA data files per genome.

For example, if you have DNA data from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, and Dante Labs, you can upload all of the data files into your Sequencing.com account. One Genome technology will automatically identify that all of the files are for the same person. The highest quality data from each file will be combined together to form that person’s genome. Data from that genome will be used on an ongoing basis to provide all Membership features. For example, when you use an app to analyze your genome, the genome generated by One Genome technology (the highest quality combined data from all of the data files for that person) will be automatically analyzed by the app.

You will not be charged any additional fees if the DNA data added to your account is for a genome that already exists in your account.

For example, if you import your 23andMe data into your Sequencing.com account, a genome will be created for you using your 23andMe data. If you also purchase a DNA test as part of your membership, when the DNA data from that test is added to your account, it will be automatically merged into your existing genome. One Genome technology will merge the highest quality data from your 23andMe data and your DNA test data into a single genome. Since you already had a genome for yourself stored in your Sequencing.com account (from your 23andMe data), when your DNA test data is added, you will still have the same number of genomes in your account and the amount of your monthly subscription will remain the same.
